The Limitless Update! - 1.6
Welcome to the Limitless* Update!
In this update, I've completely rewritten Dash Dodge from the ground up, with simplicity in mind. The level browser has been unified, and a whole new level editor allows you to make levels easier.
What's "Limitless*"?
Previously, levels were limited to being 5 metres high and 100 metres long. Now, levels can be up to 50 metres high and can span a gigantic 5 KILOMETRES (5000 metres) - that's 50x the length, and 50x the fun!
The Editor
The level editor has been redesigned to be easier to use than ever before! The dimension toggle allows you to just place in 2D, or in all three dimensions. The InstantPlace toggle allows you to easily fill in large areas with the hold of a mouse, or allow more intricate placement when turned off. The new categorised drawer allows you to choose blocks with ease, and the new tooltips (when hovering over any button) explain what each thing does. Level names and authors can now have special characters, including spaces, so use whatever you like!
My Levels
The new My Levels section of Dash Dodge allows you to work on multiple levels at once, without uploading them! It provides info as to whether you've completed it or whether this version is currently uploaded. please note that when a level is uploaded, you cannot edit it - but you can upload a new version or copy. You can see how long the level is, when it was last edited, or you can delete it (forever!) Levels must now be completed by you to ensure spam levels don't get uploaded.
The Browser
The Level Browser has been simplified to make it easier to navigate and play levels. The clunky featured levels system has been streamlined - now with a crown to symbolise quality. Any levels I find to be extremely fun or high quality, I'll tag with certification! The refresh button allows the cache to be wiped; enabling you to view the latest certified levels.
New Additions
New Blocks
- Platform - this replaces the old 'above ground' block and can be used for the player to slide on - without dying!
- Spikes - coming in floor and roof variants, they add deadly decoration to your levels!
- Ghost Blocks - blocks which the player can slide through.
- Gravity Switchers - a throwback to the old flying bug; this time real! You can switch between normal and anti gravity.
- Volume control - you can now turn up or down the volume to your liking!
New or Tweaked Features
- The player can now jump! This leads to funner, more interesting levels - with a new dodging element!
- Music tweak - the music has a deep new bassline and a more dramatic feel.
- Themes - the grassy theme's colours have been changed slightly.
- Oh, and blocks now EXPLODE when you die - it looks pretty neat!
- New sound effects - to replace the classic old ones.
- Crushing blocks now don't clip through blocks - they reach the highest point in the level (to which you've placed to) and turn around.
- Player movement has been reworked to be more responsive and have better physics.
